This is a globally unique dataset — no other New Zealand platform tracks charity trustee meeting attendance at the individual level. Coverage is limited to charities whose annual reports include attendance disclosures (estimated 200-500 charities).

Attendance data is extracted from charity annual report PDFs using AI-assisted parsing (Claude Haiku). The extraction identifies attendance tables, grids, and narrative disclosures, then matches trustee names to our officer database using 7-step name matching (nicknames, initials, macrons).

Meeting types are normalized to standard categories: Board, Audit & Risk, Finance, Remuneration, Governance, Investment, Subcommittee, AGM, and Other. Where reports show per-meeting presence grids (tick/cross/apology), individual meetings are counted up to produce attended/held totals.

Low attendance does not necessarily indicate poor governance — trustees may have valid reasons for absence including health, conflicting commitments, or mid-term appointments. This data should be interpreted in context alongside tenure and role information.
