Specific Learning Disabilities Nelson Incorporated
About
The individuals with whom the society is concerned, are those of adequate intelligence whose formal learning development has been less than their potential because of Specific Learning Disabilities. Individuals with Specific Learning Disabilities means those who have a disorder in one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or in using language, spoken or written, which disorder may manifest itself in imperfect ability to listen, think read spell, write or do mathematical calculations. Such disorders include such conditions as perceptual handicaps, brain injury, minimal brain dysfunctions, dyslexia and developmental aphasia. Such terms do not include individuals who have learning problems that are primarily the result of visual, hearing or motor handicaps, of mental retardation, of emotional disturbance, or environmental, cultural or economic disadvantage.
