Rahui Marae
About
Rahui Marae is a Trust established under Te Ture Whenua (Maori land) Act 1993. The Trust’s purpose is to • maintain and manage the Marae and associated whenua and buildings; • maintain the integrity of tikanga and kawa according to heritage and history; • inform manuhiri and tangata whenua of tikanga and kawa; • ensure protocols and principles operating on the Marae are consistent with tikanga and kawa; • assist users of the Marae as to use of the Marae Atea and other whenua associated with the Marae for hui and tangihanga; • encourage the use of the Marae for community purposes and provide a quality environment to cater for the needs of the beneficiaries and wider community; and • ensure all funds of the Trust are used for charitable purposes within New Zealand. Rahui Marae is a place where people share kinship, whanau, hapu and iwi links together. It’s a place to meet, to share, to celebrate, to farewell and to welcome whanau from all walks of life.
