The Purpose and aims of the Society are to assist in the preservation, maintenance, restoration, repair and upkeep of the buildings at Melrose, to promote and implement such uses of Melrose as are consistent with the foregoing objects and which further the intention of the donor of the property that it should be used for general public purposes for the benefit of the citizens of the city of Nelson and in particular to provide or assist in the provision of facilities at Melrose for Recreation, culture or of other activities in the interest of social welfare of the citizens of Nelson
