About
(a) Save life at sea; (b) Aid vessels in distress (c) Maintain a radio service (d) Assist local and national authorities in their activities to ensure the safety of persons using the sea and adjacent coast. (e) Provide educational courses for members and for the public (f) Protect and indemnify operational members in the course of their activities on behalf of the Society (except wilful misconduct) (g) Purchase, take on lease, charter or otherwise acquire all vessels, equipment, land, buildings and plant as may be necessary to carry out the Societies purposes. (h) Support Royal New Zealand Coastguard Incorporated and Coastguard Eastern Region Incorporated in the fulfilment of their objects and not do anything inconsistent with the fulfilment of those objects. (i) Do anything necessary or helpful to the above purposes
