United World Colleges in NZ Incorporated
About
The primary objective of UWCNZ is to promote education as a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future by sending outstanding New Zealand high school students overseas for two years of international study. Each year the NZ National Committee selects 2 to 8 scholars to attend one of the 18 High Schools/Colleges spread around the World. The UWC movement was founded in 1962 with the vision of bringing together young people whose experience was of the political conflict of the cold war era, offering an educational based experience of shared learning, collaboration and understanding so that the students would act as champions of peace. The movement remains committed to this goal today but have expanded its reach to embrace the tensions and conflicts that exist within as well as between societies. UWC schools, colleges and programs deliver a challenging education experience - see - www.uwc.org
