Within the Methodist Church Te Haahi Weteriana O Aotearoa, the parish is a visible expression of the body of Christ in a particular place. It consists of one or more congregation of members who worship and witness as the people called Methodist. A parish may be in co-operation with another church or churches. The Northcote Takapuna Methodist Parish consists of two congregations, St Lukes Methodist Church, Northcote and Takapuna Methodist Church. It seeks to provide safe and inclusive sacred spaces for spiritual expression and development, and where pastoral care that is commensurate with Christian values and principles, can be accessed. The Northcote Takapuna Methodist Parish seeks to initiate or engagecommunity development projects or processes through partnering or supporting other organisations that are seeking to improve community well-being. This is motivated by a Christian vision for the restoration of all to their rightful place in Aotearoa New Zealand Society.
