About

The primary purpose of hospital chaplains’ ministry is to foster good health through excellence in pastoral care, from a Christian base. ICHC chaplains stand alongside other healthcare professionals in the hospital setting, with the same commitment to people. The Interchurch Council for Hospital Chaplaincy (ICHC) is committed to the principles of partnership expressed in the Treaty of Waitangi. Implicit in this Code of Practice, is a commitment to those principles, which impose upon Chaplains the need to have regard for the spiritual and cultural needs of Tikanga Maori.
