The Geoscience Society of New Zealand Awards Trust

(a) To make awards recognising significant achievements by persons resident in New Zealand in Geoscience and related scientific field, in particular to Tertiary students and young Researchers within the first ten years of their professional career. (b) To administer awards and prizes known as the Alan Mason Historical Studies Fund, Hornibrook Prize, Puller/Vucetich Prize, Hastie Awards, Wellman Prize, Wellman Research Award, New Zealand Geophysics Prize, Werner F. Giggenbach Prize for Geochemistry, Jim Ansell Geophysics Scholarship, John Beavan Geodetic Fieldwork Grant, and such further awards and prizes as may be established by the Trust from time to time. (c) To support the advancement of geoscience research and knowledge in New Zealand generally. (d) To make grants to further geoscience research and endeavour. (e) To promote awareness of and education in the earth science fields in New Zealand. (f) To support libraries and others for raising knowledge and awareness of earth science.
