The Company is established and maintained exclusively for charitable purposes, including any ancillary activities that support these aims. Its core purpose is to advance the study, appreciation, and performance of opera—encompassing the traditional repertoire, New Zealand opera, and concert performances in the southern region. As New Zealand’s longest-running opera company, we are committed to enriching the dynamic culture of our community by producing high-quality, innovative operatic performances that support both emerging and established artists, whilst nurturing local talent. We aim to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where performers and audiences alike can experience the transformative power of opera. Recognising opera as a multidimensional theatrical art form, the Company may also undertake related activities necessary to support the development, presentation, and sustainability of opera in Dunedin.
