About

Mission

Taranaki Retreat is a peer-led collaborative community Mental Health & Addictions Suicide Prevention Support NGO. It is accredited by Te Kāhui Kāhu as a Social Service providing Information, advice, advocacy, sector support and development, and employment and training services. The service was formed and developed in 2014 through a community-wide co-design process, informed at every stage by Lived Experience and shaped in consultation with the Ministry of Health / Te Whatu Ora and many similar services. Taranaki Retreat responds to tāngata whai ora and whānau through self, whānau, iwi/hapū, workplace or other agency referral. Our service includes Outreach Support, Support Groups, Workshops, a Residential Support Base and a Drop-In Support Hub including Whānau Support Rooms, Creative Hub and Koha Cafe supporting whānau and individuals experiencing distress and/or hardship.
