To provide a Civic and Community Theatre for the following activities - Cinema, Orchestral or vocal concerts, recitals, drama and repertory, Grand Opera and Light Opera, Ballet,Musical shows, pop concerts and jazz festivals and all other forms of entertainment of any kind whatsoever, Conferences, meetings and lecturers of all kinds, Art exhibitions, trade and industrial displays, scientific education and other displays. To make available in the in the same building a theatre which will attract to the Stratford area a wide range of National and International artists and companies so as to keep in touch with dramatic and musical talent from New Zealand and around the world. In general to provide for any other forms of cultural, social, educational, religious, community, activity and facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupation for the benefit of the public.
