To ensure the centre is run by psychiatric consumers (hereafter referred to as consumers), for consumers and that they are encouraged to participate at all levels of decision making. To apply and promote a self-help philisophy aimed at improving the quality of life consumers and Tangata Whiaora working always with cultural sensitivity and acknowledgement of the Te Triti o Waitangi. To initiate, promote, run and support any self-help projects for consumers such as : Support Centres, Rural Support Groups, Small Business Co-operatives, and any such feasible concept as consumers shall decide. To support consumers with information on treatments, rights and services. To educate the community as well as psychiatric service providers about the experiences and needs of consumers. To improve the rights and advocacy for consumers. to promote training and workforce development for all consumers where feasible.
