To promote and support the writing and teaching of all forms of literary work, particularly within the genre of poetry by New Zealand writers. To make grants or provide other financial assistance to New Zealand writers whose literary work may be promising or who are alrteady well established, with preference being given to writers of peotry or whose writing is in the nature of prose. For any other purpose within New Zealand (whether to the relief of policy, the advancement of education, religion or any other matter beneficial to the communicty) which are charitable according to the law of New Zealand
