The objects of the Society are: a) To promote well-being and prevent loneliness, depression, and suicide, by providing: • Compassionate listening services to callers in need, through our 0800 helpline • Advocacy for the lonely and vulnerable in our local Manawatu community • Training and social opportunities to our volunteers (b) To ensure that our clients receive appropriate and professional support, by clarifying the capacities of our Society, professionally upskilling our members through training, mentorship, and supervision, and referring clients to alternative services when required. (b) To establish and maintain our charitable organization, in local, national, and international contexts.
