Ruahine Whio Protection Trust

The purpose of the Trust shall be to protect and raise the numbers of Whio ("the Blue Duck") within the Ruahine Ranges and surrounding localities ("the District") by establishing a capital fund ("the Trust Fund") through: a) Donations; b) Investment of the Trust Fund; and c) Fundraising; and to utilise the Trust Fund to finance and to make donations and resources available to individuals, entities, community groups and associations for the following: i)Trapping of Whio predators, ii) Education in relation to protecting and raising the numbers of Whio in the District, iii) Acquiring traps and devices for trapping and eliminating Whio predators, iv) Widening the habitat of Whio, v) Other initiatives which will assist the protection and raise the number of Whio in the District.
