The Mission of the Ross Goldfields Information & Heritage Centre is to provide an authentic hands-on, educational experience with a focus on the historical, social, cultural and industrial aspect of the Ross District and surrounding areas, encourage staff to train in museum practices and obtain the necessary N.Z.Q.A. accreditation. To provide a museum/history room the community feels proud of and has involvement in. To work in partnership with the Department of Conservation, West Coast Historical Museum, Westland District Council,Historic Places, Tourism West Coast, Te Papa and relevant organisations to appropriately display, protect and promote the Ross region's historic past and tourism future. To appropriately acquire items and develop the museum's collection for the benefit of the West Coast region, its residents and visitors. Safeguard collections and preserve for future generations. Operate professionally with sound management. Upskill staff in museum practices, & seek funding.
