Rail Heritage Trust of New Zealand

The Rail Heritage Trust of New Zealand (“the Trust”) was established on 27th September 1991 for the purposes of:  encouraging and supporting action to conserve, protect and maintain historically significant railway buildings, structures, precincts and relics within New Zealand (the “National Rail Heritage Collection”);  encouraging and supporting action to conserve historic buildings forming part of the National Rail Heritage Collection for their continuing productive use;  raising funds that may be applied towards the conservation, protection and preservation of the National Rail Heritage Collection; and  maintaining and administering a “Rail Heritage Register”, which will classify and describe the National Rail Heritage Collection.
