NZ Notable Trees Trust
About
The New Zealand Notable Trees Trust works for the benefit of the people of New Zealand by identifying, documenting, and promoting trees of historic, botanical, cultural, and amenity significance. The Trust maintains a national register of notable trees and makes this information freely available to the public, helping to build awareness, appreciation, and pride in New Zealand’s tree heritage. Through community nominations, research, and the use of established assessment methods, the Trust supports the recognition, protection, and long-term care of significant trees for present and future generations. As part of its educational role, the Trust makes the Standard Tree Evaluation Method (STEM) 1994 available and provides guidance on its application, supporting consistent and transparent assessment of historic and notable trees in a way that furthers public understanding and environmental stewardship.
