The Government Economics Network (also known as GEN) was established in 2011 to promote the better use of economics in the public sector in New Zealand. GEN’s vision is excellent government policy supported by robust economic analysis and advice. It achieves this by: 1. Strengthening economic capability and professional development of public sector economists and non-economists 2. Building connections between economists across the private, public and academic sectors 3. Facilitating debate and discussion on economic and public policy research
