Mission: The Northern Drivers’ Charitable Trust was formed in 1986 as part of the amalgamation agreement which established the Northern Distribution Union Inc., the successor union now being Workers First Union Inc. It was specified assets of the Northern Drivers’ Union – the settlor union and one of the amalgamation partners - that created the charitable trust. The objects of the Trust are: “To establish and maintain a trust fund for the education and training for any trade, skill, calling or profession as may assist or better the social and economic circumstances of: and/or “The relief of poverty of any person and any spouse or child of such person who is a worker and/or a member of a union.” In determining who may be eligible as a beneficiary, the trustees at all times give preference to the members and any spouse or child of any members of the settlor union.
