Mission Statement: The New Zealand Fashion Museum leads the research, collection, interpretation, access and celebration of New Zealand's fashion history Purpose: The advancement of education through promotion of the researching, recording and presentation of the contribution of fashion to New Zealand’s social and cultural history, including the creation of a centralised comprehensive archive of the distributed national collection of fashion objects; for the benefit of the community by creating a focal point for the wide interest in, and appetite for, the collection and preservation and the exhibition of significant fashion objects; for the broader engagement of the wider community with fashion history and practice in New Zealand; and to provide a readily accessible and comprehensive resource to enhance the education of students and practitioners in the creative industries in New Zealand.
