Nelson Science Society Incorporated

The object of the Society is the advancement and promotion of Science and Technology in the Tasman and Nelson region. This is accomplished by supporting, financially or otherwise, the organization of, or provision of a) meetings at which presentations are delivered which are of general interest in the fields of Science and Technology b) travel grants and sponsorships for local schoolchildren and young researchers to pursue their interest in Science and Technology c) the sponsorship and support of local school educational events such as School Science Fairs d) the management of the assets (observatory and telescopes) of the Astronomy section of this charity. NSS is a branch of the Royal Society Te Apārangi. The Astronomy section (AS) runs talks and Star Gazing nights at the Observatory. NSS and it's Astronomy section work closely together and share the running of key functions such financial reporting.
