About
The objects of NDC are (a) to provide awareness in the community about Deaf people (b) To provide a support service and meeting place for Deaf people and their families and friends (c) To employ appropriate staff to provide services for members of the Society and the wider Deaf community (d) To promote education of hearing people about communication with Deaf people (e) to have contact with other clubs and Deaf people in New Zealand and be involved in activities and issues concerning Deaf people (f) To promote the use and official recognition of New Zealand Sign Language (g) To assist those responsible for the education and welfare of Deaf Children by making available to them the experience of Deaf adults (h) To resist discriminiation against Deaf people on the grounds of methods of communication or other grounds relating to Deafness (i) To do all such things as are incidental or conductive to the attainment of the above objects
