The purpose of the Trust is to promote, celebrate and strengthen our multicultural communities, specifically: To benefit the community by promoting and supporting the expression of ethnic customs, languages, religions, and cultures throughout the Whakatū Nelson/ Te Tai o Aorere Tasman region To support the rights of people and groups of diverse ethnic backgrounds to enjoy equal opportunities and to benefit from an equitable share of resources that may be made available by government and other entities for the betterment of the community To raise understanding among ethnic communities of the needs, aspirations and status of Tāngata Whenua, and the role of Tāngata Tiriti in honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
