Advance the knowledge of Fine Arts and in particular NZ Fine Arts and provide a facility to enable the display and education of people in Art. To promote both music performance and the education of music. To hold the historic building known as McLean's Mansion (as it is or as it is repaired or replaced), to maintain it as a historic building and permit access to it by the public. To provide education relating to heritage and the social history of the Canterbury region.
