Mayor's Welfare Fund Charitable Trust

The Mayor's Welfare Fund was established in 1897 as the "Mayor's Coal and Blanket Fund". It exists to provide assistance to families and individuals in our community who are undergoing undue financial distress. The Fund works with other social service agencies in the city and can provide assistance where there is undue financial hardship. The Fund is a last resort measure when people have exhausted all other appropriate sources of assistance such as Work and Income New Zealand
