Mission: Matahiwi Cemetery Reserve (Matahiwi 5 & 6), located at 376 Lawn Road, Clive, Hastings, was set apart as a Māori Reservation on 21 March 1902 for the purpose of a cemetery. The purpose of the reservation was expanded to include a meeting house on 9 June 1936 and is known as Matahiwi Marae. Vision Matahiwi Marae is the hub of its surrounding communities, a safe, living and inviting environment that is busy with activities for the whānau and community, where all people are welcome, engaged, uplifted, inspired and sustained in the tikanga and culture of Matahiwi. Mission To provide a well-equipped resource and to develop hapū with the knowledge and confidence to uphold the tikanga and kawa of Matahiwi; to accommodate whānau hapū iwi and maintain our relationship with local communities.
