Mission: Live for More (LFM) purpose is to empower rangatahi/young people to find freedom from their troubled pasts and be inspired to live positive lives. LFM utilises surf therapy as our model, building deep connection and trust, creating an environment of whānau, belonging and healthy lasting relationships. We concentrate on rangatahi who have slipped through the cracks and are caught up in lifestyles of violence, crime and addiction. Working from the Māori holistic health model of Te Whare Tapa Whā, LFM focuses on all aspects of health: physical (tinana), mental (hinengaro), spiritual (wairua) and relational health (whānau). Our difference is that alongside the surf therapy we provide intensive clinical counselling, practical life navigation skills as well as cultural sessions. This is all aimed to empower self-belief, confidence and a positive outlook. With a renewed understanding of their culture, identity and potential, we see rangatahi finding freedom for themselves and their whānau.
