Immune Deficiencies Foundation Of New Zealand (IDFNZ) Incorporated
About
Established in 1989 IDFNZ KIDS Foundation exists to support patients of all ages (and families) affected by rare genetic conditions of the immune system and other rare medical conditions - including more recently paediatric liver disease and intestinal failure child patients. Primary Immune Deficiency (PID) child patients may require bone marrow or thymus transplant; PID patients of all ages may require lifelong plasma therapies to strengthen their immune response. Children with liver disease / intestinal failure are also high medical needs and may require transplant. All patient members are vulnerable and medically fragile. In addition IDFNZ KIDS Foundation supports medical research relating to PID/Liver disease and promoting education of the early warning signs to medical professionals and the general public. Early diagnosis is proven to support better outcomes and quality of life for patients.
