HEARTBEAT CITY MINISTRIES (CHARITABLE TRUST) paramount principal is to protect the safety, interest, and proper care and wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi aged less than 18 years receiving services delivered from any staff member of the organisation and/or associated adults/parent/caregiver who are receiving services from any staff member of the organisation. Heartbeat City Ministries is a Christian non denominational trust that provide a range of social and psychological counselling services to predominately disadvantaged and vulnerable Māori whānau and their tamariki (children), rangatahi (youth). Whānau experiencing things such as: • Relationship difficulties and/or marital breakup • Lack of early childhood attachment to significant caregiver/parent • Tamariki/rangatahi witnessing domestic and/or physical abuse that results in trauma related symptoms • Lack of positive parenting skills. These difficulties are further exacerbated by Māori over-represented in social deprivation
