Mission: Since 1961, Health Research Foundation-HB has been an independent research group focused on improving the health of the region. Our aim is to promote and support research in all health related fields including medical and health education, knowledge and understanding. From small, local and useful studies through to participation in large national and international projects, the foundation has been able to make a significant contribution to research. As with all research funded by the Foundation, the proviso is that the research is likely to benefit Hawkes Bay people and that Hawkes Bay people are involved in the research team whenever possible. Cot death and Asthma research in adults and children are examples of those projects funded. Unfortunately, over recent years, reduced revenue from investments has caused a significant decrease in our ability to fund research. As the Foundation’s role continues, its future depends on the financial support and generosity of benefact.
