The Chapter is established and maintained exclusively for charitable purposes (including any purposes ancillary to those charitable purposes), namely enhancing education by: (a) promoting education in barbershop four-part harmony (acapella) singing by providing quality training in all aspects of the barbershop craft; (b) making that training available to all members of the public who wish to participate; (c) facilitating such education by establishing and maintaining barbershop choruses and barbershop quartets; (d) educating such choruses and quartets by providing competent, trained, and qualified music directors to instruct the choruses and quartets in vocal and musical skills through holding regular training sessions and rehearsals; (e) aiming for a higher standard of educational achievement in the barbershop craft by measuring the Chapter’s performance through regularly competing against other barbershop choruses and quartets affiliated to Barbershop Harmony New Zealand Inc.
