To conserve promote and advance cultural and traditional interests, welfare and status of people of Indian descent residing in Wellington and other parts of NZ; assist in their protection and advancement; to provide link between Indian and wider NZ community; to preserve and nurture cultures of India and bring awareness in younger generation; to promote educational advancement and render charitable assistance who may be in need; to promote activities of educational and cultural value; to promote youth and women involvement at all levels; to assist and support the members of community; their families; senior citizens in times of difficulties; to guide and assist new migrants in their effort to settle in NZ; to be non-partisan and non0sectarian organisation; to empower volunteers to serve community, encourage peace and promote mutual respect for developing harmonious multi-cultural society in NZ.
