Mission

The objectives and purposes of the Far North Regional Museum Trust Board (“The Trust Board”) were determined in the Deed of Trust dated 1999 (under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957), and amended by the Far North District Council (FNDC) on the 21st of February 2008 to 1. Encourage, support and promote cultural, educational, recreational and charitable activities in that area to the north of a line between the Whangaroa harbour on the east and the Whangape harbour in the west 2. Maintain, develop and operate the Far North Regional Museum for the purposes of exhibit and portraying to the public all aspects of the history (including natural history and culture of the Far North both before and after the arrival of the European) including all artefacts, taonga, exhibits, archival material, documents and maps and library located in the museum. 3. Foster and provide opportunities to the people, organisations and groups of the district for the participation and enjoyment in the foresaid activi
