Mission: The Council of Wellington Churches is a consultative group of representatives of a wide range of Christian Congregations and para-church organisations in the capital city. It has the functions of enabling discussion and exchange of ideas among the city's denominations, and on their behalf with representatives of city, government and other religious groups. It operates as an umbrella body, as a board of reference for a variety of combined Wellington city church initiatives to the glory of Jesus Christ. The vision of this group is to maintain and strengthen the Christian faith through sharing information about church-based community events and celebrations, and also to facilitate the continuance of other city-observed Christian events such as, Carols in Parliament, the Capital Prayer Breakfast. We also assist with the organization of State religious services and the Citizens Wreath Laying Service at the Cenotaph on ANZAC Day.
