About
To further develop, operate and maintain a museum presenting the natural and cultural history of The Catlins for the benefit of the public. To inspire respect for, and promote the importance of heritage with particular reference to the natural history and the early Maori and European settlers of the area. To collect, research and publish material associated with the natural and cultural history of The Catlins in accordance with policies developed by the Society. To conserve and hold the collection in trust for present and future generations and to provide access to the museum collection through education, exhibitions and associated programmes. To seek new opportunities and innovative ways of working with the community and public. To support other projects related to the history of The Catlins.
