The purpose of the society is: To promote and facilitate the resettlement and integration of the people of Bhutanese origin to the mainstream of New Zealand To facilitate and promote a sense of belonging and unity in their new Homeland in Nelson New Zealand. To facilitate and maintain their distinct Bhutanese – Nepali identity by promoting unity and a sense of belonging to their community To apply for funding and to fundraise in a variety of ways to pursue the goal of establishing the community’s own center whereby meetings special occasions etc can take place. Also to support various activities eg. education, sports, religious, and cultural activities deemed appropriate. To pass on distinct cultural and traditional influences on the younger generation for the preservation of their heritage e.g. custom, language, and religion.
