Saving lives at sea and aiding of vessels in distress, undertaking marine related safety patrols, generally, but not confined to the Bay of Islands. To co-operate with and assist local and national authorities in taking such steps and measures to ensure the safety of persons using the sea, coast and adjacent waters. The training of members in methods of savings lives at sea, and the training of and practice for its members in the use of boats. To develop and encourage a high standard of seamanship and safety at sea, in particular by fostering safe boating and the provision of public boating education. To obtain by purchase, or otherwise, any vessels, motor equipment, gear, land and buildings, plant and material needed for the foregoing purposes.
