Mission: We are to promote the understanding, awareness and management of asthma and respiratory conditions through education and advocacy. We run courses in Asthma & COPD through the Unitec Institute of Technology. This has been very successful in that over 1000 nurses across New Zealand have completed these Distance learning courses. This means that there is a tremendous resource within the community in terms of education in the Asthma/COPD areas and army of qualified dedicated nurses built by Asthma New Zealand serves as the cornerstone of our efforts to educate to contain asthma. We continue to run one full day workshops for asthma and half day training course for COPD. To date we have 3 fully up and running branches which are Timaru, Wellington, & Rotorua Asthma Societies. Our asthma education programme is a learning experience designed to help individuals and communities improve their knowledge or influencing their attitudes about asthma.
